An excavator tunnel arm refers to a specialized extension of an excavator used primarily in tunnel construction or confined spaces. What are the advantages of modifying the tunnel arm?
1. The operating range adjusts to suit the work environment, eliminating concerns about the boom striking tunnel or basement beams.
2. After modifying the tunnel arm, a larger breaker can be utilized because of the shortened boom. For instance, a PC120 excavator can be equipped with a 135 breaker post-modification, and the PC200 can handle a 165 breaker. However, it's necessary to increase the double pump convergence, which doubles the impact force.
3. The tunnel arm can also support a bucket. The shorter the arm, the lower the torque, resulting in more force, which allows for a larger bucket to be used.
4. When switching the breaker for a bucket, the stop valve prevents oil leaks.
5. Pipe joints are welded in multiple layers to minimize the risk of oil leakage.
6. The cylinder guard helps protect the cylinder from damage in case of collisions.

II. Excavator Tunnel Arms Suitable For Application
What is the role of beveling the long arm plate?
The penetration depth of the commonly used welding machines in the industry is only 3mm thick. The thickness of our long arm plate is at least 8mm. If the beveling is not opened, the welder cannot penetrate the entire weld, so the welding effect will be very poor, and problems such as weld cracking will occur later.
We use mechanical beveling, while other factories use manual beveling (as shown in the figure)

V. Production Using High-precision Instruments
Plasma cutting machine
Plates with a thickness of less than 30 mm are cut by plasma, and plates with a thickness of more than 30 mm are cut by flame. The deformation of plasma cutting is 0.1 mm, and the deformation of the plate is small in CNC plasma cutting.
Double sided boring machine
Improved accuracy and consistency: Since the boring pin operations on both sides of the double-sided boring machine are carried out simultaneously, the processing accuracy and consistency of both sides can be guaranteed.
Beveling machine
Beveling the plate is the first step before welding. Mechanical beveling is used instead of flame beveling, and only 2mm of plate thickness is reserved for beveling, so that the plate and welding material can be better welded. Through beveling, the welding machine can penetrate the entire weld, and it is not easy to cause problems such as weld cracking.
